HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. \u2014 The National RV Inspectors Association recently held its annual conference and awards banquet in Heber Springs, Arkansas, Oct. 20-23. The educational event drew 120 attendees, both Level I and Level 2 inspectors, who spent time attending technical sessions taught by Level II certified instructors. The topics covered everything from fluid analysis to inspecting and maintaining slideouts, to promoting an inspection business and building a website.<\/p>

\u201cThis year\u2019s event was the highest attended conference we\u2019ve had to date,\u201d reported Stephanie Henson, NRVIA director of administration. \u201cI\u2019m thankful for an amazing group of individuals who are passionate about making a difference. These inspectors are also RVers and understand the importance of making an educated and informed decision on an RV purchase.\u201d<\/p>

She added, \u201cThe synergy that comes from the annual inspector conference is without a doubt the most important reason for attending. If someone is thinking of making a career change, the conference is a way to get to know us, see who we are and become part of our family. Save the date for next year, Oct. 5-7 in Athens, Texas at the Texan RV Park.\u201d<\/p>

The event kicked off on October 20 with a BBQ at the JFK Campground Shelter, hosted by Terry Cooper, NRVIA president, and Steve Anderson, NRVIA director and president\/owner of Workamper News. Henson and Cooper recognized the 2017 Inspector Awards at this event.<\/p>

The awards went to the following inspectors:<\/p>

Art Horton of Art Horton LLC<\/strong>, who is a Level II inspector. His nomination came from a satisfied customer who said, \u201cArt was very patient with multiple scheduling issues, explained every item of report over the phone, had our best interest at heart.\u201d The customer added, \u201chis fluid analysis went above and beyond. He rushed samples, stayed on top of them, and even stayed in touch with us as he was preparing for Hurricane Irma.\u201d<\/p>

Shawn Tipton was nominated by a satisfied customer for his award as well. This customer noted that Shawn \u201cspent hours ripping through every inch of the coach and found critical issues. The odometer was changed and had extensive miles that were unaccounted for. In addition, he found rust, old tires, steering\/suspension and alignment issues, and a prior accident in the rear.\u201d The customer said, \u201cShawn saved us from buying a lemon and the money we spent on the inspection was very reasonable in comparison to purchasing a unit that is not mechanically sound.\u201d<\/p>

Al Pearce of A&L RV Inspection also received an award. The nomination for this Level II inspector said, \u201cWe were pressed for time and afraid we would miss out on a great deal. It was a five-hour trip for us to go check this unit out, so I called Al and he rearranged his schedule to go out the first thing the next morning, do the inspection and call us with a verbal report.\u201d The customer added, \u201cWe not only had his verbal report right away, we had the verbal report before we arrived at our destination!\u201d<\/p>

Rob Wilhelm, owner of Professional RV Inspections LLC, was nominated multiple times by customers for an award. Wilhelm\u2019s customers noted the following: \u201cHe called and gave a verbal report when he finished the inspection, which was very helpful in my decision making process. He followed that up with a 108-page report. I was impressed.\u201d \u201cRob is very good with communications and pre-inspection preparation. On the day of his inspection, Rob was on time and helpful with an electrical course issue. He spent six hours on the inspection in a tremendous rain storm. His report was on time, detailed and very useful in our decision-making process.\u201d<\/p>

Geoff Baker of InspectRV.com also received an award based on a customer\u2019s nomination. The nomination said \u201cGeoff was forthcoming with information not only in his inspection criteria but also with his RV systems knowledge in general. He was willing to answer all of my questions and even spoke with me after some of the repairs had been performed on the unit.\u201d The customer added, \u201cHis report identified approximately 30 items, some of which were very major. Had I not had this information, the sale would have had some tragic consequences for us.\u201d<\/p>

Bob Kelly of Hit the Road RV Repair & Inspections, also received an award. His nomination said, \u201cI used Bob to inspect three different RVs and he did an outstanding job on all three, even working outside in 110-degree temperatures. Bob\u2019s knowledge and experience provided us with a detailed report on the first two units, which had I purchased would have cost me thousands of dollars in repairs.\u201d<\/p>

The final award went to Howard and Pam Jaros, who Henson says have been with the NRVIA since its creation. Henson added, \u201cThe both give 110 percent toward seeing the success of NRVIA both as an association and in helping students succeed. They are dedicated to seeing each student run a successful business and will go the extra mile to help them understand the many moving parts of being an RV inspector. They both equally deserve this recognition and we are honored to have them on our team.\u201d<\/p>
