Do you know the importance of checking the date codes on your RV Tires?
RV Quality Inspections has inspected tires on RV’s that look to be in excellent condition, the tread wear is minimal, but the tires are 8 or more years old and many times unsafe for further use.
RV Quality Inspections has inspected fairly new RV’s and found the date codes on the RV are 2 -3 years older than year of the RV. Therefore, we recommend when you are in the market for an RV, check the date codes on all the tires. You may be purchasing a 3-year-old RV but the tires could possibly be 4-5 years old.
Here is how you can quickly check the date codes on your RV.
The RV tire Date Code always starts with the letters DOT and ends with a 3- or 4-digit number. The first two numbers indicate the week of the year of manufacture. 52 weeks in a year so that is the max. The last one or two digits tells you the year. The tire in the picture below was manufactured the 21st week of 2018.
